Loki

Meet Loki he is a 5 Year Kanupstrupper Gelding, he is with us for several months to learn to be a dependable trail mount.

Session 1 (34:48) – Relaxation When Tied
Working on having Loki find relaxation when tied, and having a positive response to pressure rather than pulling back.

Session 14 (5:53) – Part 1 – Tacking While Tied
Going over the responsibilities and expectations I have of Loki while tacking.

Session 14 (21:46) – Part 2 – Relaxation On The Circle
Looking for Loki to relax with the bit pressure from the draw reins as he gets a bit emotional about the rein pressure and has a hard time following a feel.

Session 21 (20:40) – Relaxation On The Circle
Working outside and having Loki find relaxation in all three gaits and to lope on the correct lead – building up his physical and mental fitness.

Session 28 (14:25) – Lateral Flexion
Asking Loki to find relaxation and release with Lateral Flexion – he has a hard time giving to the bit pressure and staying relaxed about it. He want to lean on the pressure and gets anxious. So I help him find relaxation within the exercise. We do this both on the ground and undersaddle.

Session 35 (18:46) – Lateral Flexion Continued
Working on getting more relaxation and focus from Loki – he is good at giving to the pressure physically but mentally and emotionally he isn’t with me.

Session 42 (12:13) – Following a Feel with a “Surprise”
Asking Loki to be able to walk around and follow a feel on the inside right to do circles and bends without getting anxious about the pressure from the bit. And he gives me a surprise and decides to lay down during our session due to bugs bothering him!

Session 49 (17:07) – Part 1 – Lateral Flexion with Environmental Pressure
Anna is working with Loki and works on having him stay focused on her when things in the environments are changing and interesting.

Session 49 (18:08) – Part 2 – Riding Responsibilities
Asking Loki to go out and follow a soft feel on the reins as well as be able to go up into a jog and maintain the jog.

Session 56 (18:54) – Riding Responsibilities Continued
Working on increasing Loki’s responsibilities undersaddle, maintain gait, maintain direction, follow a feel stay soft and relaxed.

Session 63 (14:46) – Riding Responsibilities Continued
Working on increasing Loki’s responsibilities undersaddle, maintain gait, maintain direction, follow a feel stay soft and relaxed. Giving him more complex patterns to follow.

Session 71 (20:38) – Focus with Distractions
Having Loki guide nicely and respond to both leg and rein pressure while distracted by the environment (foals along the fence line).

Session 76 (6:33) – Cloverleaf At A Walk
Introducing the Cloverleaf pattern at a walk, which works on Bends and Straight Lines, and helping if you have a horse that likes to make assumptions.

Session 76 (9:04) – Cloverleaf At A Jog
Introducing the Cloverleaf pattern at a jog, which works on Bends and Straight Lines, and helping if you have a horse that likes to make assumptions.

Session 80 (16:09) – Working at The Lope
Having Loki put good effort into maintaining a lope.

Session 85 (12:23) – On The Trail
Taking Loki out on the trail, and working on his focus and responsibilities.

Session 85 (12:38) – Loping
Working on his transitions from jog to lope and lope to jog.

Session 90 (12:06) – Simple Changes (Final Videoed Session)
Working on having Loki being able to do simple changes, transitioning down to jog and back up to the lope and suing the bend of the circle to help him with the change.
