Thank you for your interest in one of our Meadow Brook Stables Foals. We have currently sold out of our foals for 2021 and 2022. However, we are starting to take Reservations for our 2023 and 2024 Foals. Below I cover some of the basics about our Breeding Program and process of reserving a foal from us with our Future Foal Payment Program.
About The Program
The way the Future Foal Payment Program works is that you can put down a Deposit for your choice of any Foal that comes up for Reservation, this allows you to make payments towards your Future Foal over a long period of time and the flexibility to wait for the perfect Foal of your dreams. You choose a year you want to reserve a foal, then, when we confirm our mares in foal in the year you have chosen you are offered the first right of refusal depending on which number your reservation before we offer the foal to the Public. We always breed more mares than we take reservations for so there would always be a foal to pick from, but do offer a limited of Future Foal Payment Program Contracts per year.
The price of a foal can range from $6500.00-$15,000.00 CDN (HST included). This price is dependent on Sire/Dam Performance Record and Color Possibilities. Our APHA only foals range from $6500.00-$8500.00 while our AQHA/APHA foals range from $10000.00-$15000.00. We plan to breed 4-6 mares a year, a minimum of 3 of which will be APHA only registered.
Prices will be increased after birth (if they don’t sell before then), this price increase can be in the range of $500.00-$2500.00 or more depending on gender, markings and genetic testing results (as some of the colour options are rarer and more sought after for breeders).
With our Future Foal Payment Program, we offer payment plans, these payments can be made over 12, 24, 36 or more months depending on when you are reserving a foal.
A 5-25% non-refundable deposit of the Base Price of $6500.00 ($325.00-$1625) for our Tobiano Foals or 15-25% non-refundable deposit of the Base Price of $10,000 ($1500.00-$2500.00) for our AQHA/APHA Foals guarantees you your foal of choice in utero. We require that all potential foal buyers fill out our “Foal Buyer’s Questionnaire”. It is our form of application, and lets us know a bit about you and your family, and provides all your pertinent information in one place for reference.
Once we receive your Questionnaire, and we mutually agree on moving forward with a reservation, the deposit will secure you a spot in the reservation order. Once you choose your Future Foal you will be notified of the dam’s progress through her pregnancy and be invited to come witness the birth if we have enough advance notice from the mare (or you can watch the birth online as we live stream the stall cameras) or you can come visit your foal after birth. If you are purchasing from away and visiting weekly is unrealistic, we would send weekly video updates of your foal.
We put a lot of effort into every little foal we raise, and it is important to us that they go to the very best of families. In return, you will receive information and support for the lifetime of your foal.

About Our Foals
Here at Meadow Brook, we strive to produce foals that are healthy, happy and easy to train. All our Breeding Horses are genetically tested and are 6 Panel Clean (HYPP, GBED, MH, HERDA, PSSM1 and LWO) which means all foals are cleared by parentage of these genetic diseases.
Our horses are also Proven Performers in the Show Pen in various disciplines. And used in our lesson program. They are quiet, well behaved and good thinkers.
Our foals are all American Paint Horse Association Registered (APHA), and some will be dual registered so will be APHA as well as America Quarter Horse Association Registered (AQHA).
We feel the health of the mares as well as the foals are utmost importance. All foals are Vet checked after birth, and have had their first set of shots before weaning. They are also de-wormed every month since birth as well as have their feet trimmed.
We do require Insurance to be taken out on the foal at birth. We understand that this foal is important to you (and us), and its high value investment too. We want to make sure that you protect your foal’s life in the event of accident or illness.
Our foals are raised at our home, on our 20-acre property. The foals are socialized and handled frequently every day by ourselves, our students and our helpers. From birth, we make a big effort to teach the foals new things every day.
Our foals spend the first week in their stall and indoor arena with mom, and are handled and checked/touched by us multiple times a day. We record their weight, and height and have our vet come out to check them for overall health and perform a blood test to ensure they have received the appropriate amount of colostrum. This also introduces them to the human touch. Once the foal is a week old, we introduce them to the other mares and foals (of if they are the first born, they wait until the next foal born is a week old).
Between 4 months and 5 months of age, we wean the foals off their dam using a proven method of gradual weaning. They are then introduced to individual stall time for small periods of the time but live with the other foals and a Nanny horse. We have had great success with this method and find the foals are well adjusted and have reduced stress.
Your foal will be provided with a Foal Kit, including, a halter, lead, a file folder and a general information sheet about feeding/training completed etc. You will be provided with a copy of the foal’s registration paperwork which will need to be transferred into your name. We also offer discounted Training and Lesson Services to you and your Foal for its entire life!
I hope that this has provided you with some basic information on our foal purchase process. We look further to speaking with your further.

Contract Questions:
What can I put for a Deposit?
If you are planning on reserving one of our APHA Registerable Foals the Deposit can be 5-25% (or more) of the Base Price of $6,500.00. If you are planning on reserving one of our AQHA/APHA Registerable Foals the Deposit can be 15-25% (or more) of the Base Price of $10,000.00. The higher your Deposit the Smaller the Monthly Payments would be.
When can I start payments?
You can start right away, the earlier you start the lower your monthly payments will be towards your Future Foal. However, you can start later, but keep in mind that all foals must be paid for in FULL by Weaning, which is typically August/September of their Birth Year.
How many Months should I choose to pay off my foal?
Whichever plan will work best for you – and keeping in mind the foal you chose from the breeding we do may cost more than the Base Price, so be prepared to make higher payments from Birth to Weaning. If you are Reserving a 2023 Foal in February of 2020, you technically have 25 Months to make Payments on your foal before Birth. For Example: Down Payment of 5% ($325.00) you’d have 25 Months to make payments of $247.00. Then if the agreed upon foal was priced at $7,500.00, you’d have 6 months to make the payments for the remaining $1,000.00, which would be payments of $167.00 a month.
Can I might higher Payments if I get a Bonus or some extra money?
Certainly! There will be no penalty for making extra payments – we will add all payments to the Invoice and send you a Receipt.
Can I pay bi-monthly (every two weeks)?
Certainly! We are very flexible with the payment plans, you can pay Weekly, Bi Monthly, Monthly. Or in larger Payments every 2-4 months depending on your financial situation – we will add all payments to the Invoice and send you a Receipt.

General Questions
Can I choose a Mare and Stallion to Breed for my Future Foal?
No, sorry. We Reserve the Right to choose all mating’s performed here at Meadow Brook Stables. We try to list Tentative Breeding Plans for several years, but this may change at any time, and even during breeding season. We cannot guarantee a certain mare or stallion will be available in the year you choose to Reserve a Foal. If there is a certain cross you are interested in through please don’t hesitate to ask about it.
When do I get to choose my Foal?
Once we have confirmed mares in foal for that breeding season, we contact our Future Foal Payment Program Participants in the order that they made their Reservation. Each participant has 48 hours to decide on a Future Foal to Reserve. Any foals that aren’t chosen by the Future Foal Payment Plan Participants will be offered For Sale to the public. Once you have chosen your Future Foal Breeding another contract will be filled out with that information on it, and an adjusted payment plan if needed.
What happens if my cross fails to produce a live foal?
Accidents do happen, and sometimes nature doesn’t work in our favor. So, if that happens then we can move your deposit and payments to another breeding, within that same year if available or the following year. You are guaranteed to get a live foal with your reservation.
What if I don’t want a Foal for the Year I selected – what happens?
If you do not like any of the Breeding’s we have chosen in the year you have selected we will allow you to Roll your Contract over to the Following Year, up to 2 Consecutive Foaling Seasons after the Initial Season that you selected to choose a Foal. If you choose not to select a Foal within those 3 Breeding Seasons there will be no Refunds.
What if I don’t choose a Foal in the Year I selected – what happens to my Right of Refusal Place?
If you do not choose a Foal in the Foaling Season you selected you will be bumped to the end of the line for the following year behind others that had already selected that year as their first pick.
What are the advantages of buying In-Utero?
The much lower price tag and payment options. You will forfeit the ability to choose the gender of your foal, but usually save several thousand dollars compared to the weanling price of our high quality foals. We are able to offer this much lower price, because we are able to save on promotional/sales expenses in future advertising.
