Meet Boots he is a 17 Year Old Pony Gelding who has come to us to be Re-Started Under Saddle and work through some of his issues on the ground. He is herd bound, and anti-social, and often chicks out and disengages from interaction with people. So we are going to work on building his confidence and respect undersaddle and on the ground.

Session 01 – Tying (14:49)
In this session I work with Boots for the first time working on his anxiety about being away from his friends and pawing or calling to them as his focus is on them and not me or the task at hand, and he is frustrated.

Session 02 – Part 1 (8:17)
Introducing Focus Circles to the left, getting Boots to stay connected to me mentally and keep a nice soft bend in his body.

Session 02 – Part 2 (6:04)
Introducing Focus Circles to the right, getting Boots to stay connected to me mentally and keep a nice soft bend in his body.

Session 02 – Part 3 (9:05)
Working with Boots to being more accepting of oral medications. He really doesn’t like to have his face handled and will toss his head when you try to touch him which makes giving oral medications quite difficult and potentially dangerous to the handler.

Session 08 (22:41)
Working on having Boots accept the bareback Pad, he does have a lot of anxiety about it and gets worried about it. It will take patience and time to get him accepting and comfortable with the bareback pad.

Session 14 (21:31)
Working on having Boots Catch me, he isn’t a very personable horse and has a lot of anxiety and tension about being near people and choosing to be caught. You can catch him with little to no issues but he is only allowing it to happen because he feel trapped or like he has to – certainly doesn’t do it because he wants to.

Session 30 – Part 1 (20:31)
Working on Connection and Focus. And adding in tacking at Liberty with Boots to build his confidence and acceptance of the Bareback Pad.

Session 30 – Part 2 (20:48)
Working on some Long Lining, Guiding and Steering from behind his tail – building confidence and connection.

Session 35 Part 1 (12:24)
Advancing his Long Lining, asking more of him, working on softness and willingness.

Session 35 Part 2 (11:31)
Working on Long Lining with the Bridle.

Session 40 (27:07)
Tacking and working with the Harness on.

Session 45 (20:21)
Advancing with the harness and longlines.

Session 50 (17:07)
Working outside, having him not rush and push through pressure, working on his over steer and under steer.

Session 55 (17:02)
Working on Boots steering more and his acceptance of pressure.

Session 60 Part 1 (14:58)
Working on his relaxation and guidance without brace and worry.

Session 60 Part 1 (6:04)
Working on his relaxation and guidance without brace and worry.

Session 65 (14:47)
Trying to break things down in easier steps for Boots – taking away the harness and the bridle with blinders and working on his acceptance to the rein pressure while driving.
