Porter
Meet Porter he is a 1.5 Year Old Warmblood Colt, he is with us for two months to learn some basic life skills which will make him easier to handle and manage for his owner.

Session 1 – Part 1 (11:52) – Finding Focus
Working on keeping Focus on Me when in a New Environment.
Session 1 – Part 2 (13:52) – Maintaining Focus
Starting to ask Porter to move his body, and maintain focus.
Session 6 – Part 1 (6:14) – Finding Focus
Working on advancing the Finding Focus exercise with Porter, having him maintain Focus when in motion. He has an easier time on his left side than on his right side.
Session 6 – Part 2 (5:21) – Lowering Head
Having Porter Lower his head and be able to keep it lowered, and staying focused on the task but not getting disconnected and distracted even when at “rest”.
Session 6 – Part 3 (4:29) – Backing & Holding Focus
Asking Porter to back up and maintain Focus on me, not disconnecting and trying to leave. Also working towards having more responsivity with backing and staying straighter.
Session 6 – Part 4 (20:10) – Moving Shoulders & Isolating The Hind End
Asking Porter to move laterally around me on a circle while I keep my feet still, and while he maintains focus. Then Isolating his HQ and asking for a yield without him moving his shoulders or backing.
Session 12 – Part 1 (22:43) – Responsibilities On The Circle
Porter was having a hard time with his Responsibilities on the Circle (Maintain Direction, Maintain Gait, and Look Where he is Going). So we worked through these issues and getting him to be more consistent in what he needed to be doing with less reminders.
Session 12 – Part 2 (6:18) – Stopping To The Right
Worked on stopping on the circle when going to the right and being particular how he stops. Not allowing him to do a rolling stop, or moving after he was asked to stop by swinging his hip.
Session 12 – Part 3 (8:02) – Stopping To The Left
Worked on stopping on the circle when going to the right and being particular how he stops. Not allowing him to do a rolling stop, or moving after he was asked to stop by swinging his hip.
Session 16 – Part 1 (13:24) – Desensitization Stage 1
Introducing Porter to the “Flag” and starting off with some Approach and Retreat making sure to respect his thresholds and building his confidence with the Flag rather than building his reaction response.
Session 16 – Part 2 (17:33) – Desensitization Stage 2
Advancing the work with the Flag, having Porter standing and staying relaxed even though the environmental pressure around him is quite elevated. Also working on not assuming all pressure is directed towards him – and therefore not needing a reaction from him.
Session 21 – (20:46) -One Month Review
Working with Porter going over some of the exercises we have been working on over the past month to show where he is at.
Session 26 (19:44) – Circling
Working on Porter being more responsive and respectable on the circle at a walk and jog.
Session 32 (28:47) – Bareback Pad Introduction
Discussing introducing a Bareback Pad, and discussing acceptance and tolerance as well as trigger stacking.
Session 37 – Part 1 (18:20) – Bareback Confidence
Working on tacking Porter and having him be more accepting and confident of the Bareback Pad. Also getting him confident and comfortable with moving forward with it on.
Session 37 – Part 2 (19:25) – Mounting Prep
Working on having Porter being comfortable with me standing on a mounting block next to him and adding both environmental pressure and physical pressure.
Session 40 – Part 1 (7:58) – Circling
Working on finding relaxation with the Bareback pad on.

Working on finding relaxation with the Bareback pad on.
